Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that
affects approximately one out of every
one hundred people in the United States.
Second only to mental retardation,
epilepsy is the most common developmental
disability and the most prevalent
neurological disorder after stroke.
The Mr. Smith Foundation was founded
in loving memory of a young man named
Maurice Smith Chappell who left this world
one month shy of turning 21 years of
age. He was truly one of God¹s angels,
and he touched many hearts with his
gentleness. His untimely death has
affected not only his family, but all
those that were able to enjoy his
calming and peaceful ways. It would
be Maurice¹s wish and his dream for us
to carry on his name and dedicate our
lives to help improve the quality of life for people affected by epilepsy. His father is dedicating his life to see that his son’s legacy lives on.
